The Congressional Essay Contest, organized by The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America, invites high school students to participate in a writing competition. The contest requires students to submit essays on annually changing topics related to government and politics. Winners receive a scholarship to attend the Congressional Seminar in Washington, D.C., which includes a Mock Congress, university campus housing, meals, and tours of government offices and museums. The contest is open to students who are 16 or older.
