Summer Law Institute – Legal Outreach

The Summer Law Institute (SLI) by Legal Outreach is a five-week summer program aimed at rising ninth graders, focusing on law and criminal justice topics. Hosted by seven law schools in New York City, the program includes daily interactions with lawyers, field trips to legal institutions, and the opportunity to participate in a mock trial in front of real judges. The curriculum is designed to enhance students' performance as they enter high school by teaching critical thinking, writing, public speaking, and persuasion skills. Successful completion of the SLI makes students eligible to apply for the 4-year College Bound program. The program is free for most families, and students receive a stipend upon completion.
