The Aspiring Scientists Summer Internship Program (ASSIP) at George Mason University's College of Science offers high school and undergraduate students the opportunity to engage in original, cutting-edge research across a wide range of scientific disciplines. During the 8-week full-time internship, participants work one-on-one with faculty researchers, using sophisticated equipment and technologies. The program aims to develop scientific writing and communication skills, explore STEM career choices, and foster creativity in research. ASSIP internships are available in remote, in-person, or hybrid formats, depending on the project needs. While the program does not offer payment to interns or mentors, there is no participation fee except for a $25 application fee, which can be waived based on financial need.
